Liposuction or tummy tuck: understanding the difference

Localised fat, loose skin and abdominal-wall changes are different concerns. Understanding the distinction makes your consultation more useful.

Waist and body contours

When fat is the main concern

Liposuction removes selected deposits beneath the skin. It is a contouring operation, not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for stable weight. Skin elasticity affects how well the area adapts afterwards. A device name does not establish whether the operation is right for you.

When skin and the abdominal wall matter

A tummy tuck removes excess skin and may address separation or weakness in the abdominal wall. It creates a longer scar and requires a different recovery plan. Future pregnancy and significant weight change can affect the result, so discuss timing as well as technique.

Can the procedures be combined?

Sometimes, but a combined operation is not automatically the better option. General health, treatment extent and operating time matter. Ask whether staging procedures would make more sense and what support you will need at home. Bleeding, infection, fluid collections, contour irregularity and clots belong in the consent discussion.

Compare plans, not just prices

When discussing surgery in Jordan, ask for a written breakdown covering the procedure, anaesthesia, surgical facility and follow-up. Include time away from work and, for visitors, accommodation near follow-up care. A personal examination with Dr. Anas helps distinguish fat from skin and support-tissue concerns.

Common questions

Does liposuction remove stretch marks?

It is not designed to remove stretch marks. A tummy tuck may remove marks located on the skin being excised, but not all marks.
